Dieses Frühjahr sind wir in Facebook auf ein Social Media Kunstprojekt gestoßen, das uns gefallen hat. Beim Gang zum Käsehändler unseres Vertrauens kamen wir an der physischen Manifestation des Projektes vorbei: In der a+gallery in Süden Stuttgarts trafen wir auf den Medienkünstler Wolf Nkole Helzle, der dort das schon online entdeckte Projekt „I am we_interactive image“ vorstellte. Anfang April hat er eine Internetplattform gegründet, die es jedem ermöglicht, Bilder in ein virtuelles Tagebuch zu stellen, für jeden Tag des Kalenders eins. Die Bilder werden wiederum als Mosaiksteine genutzt, aus denen die Profilbilder von Mitgliedern nachgebaut werden. So entstehen Porträts aus der Summe aller: Ich bin wir.

Man kann die Bilder anderer kommentieren, ein reger Austausch internationaler Künstler ist entstanden. Wir sind der Gruppe beigetreten und haben Bilder zum Projekt beigetragen: Martins Zeichnungen von Dora sowie Schattenbilder von Karin finden sich nun in den Mosaiken wieder.

Damit dieses partizipative Projekt vom virtuellen Raum zurück in die physische Welt wirken kann, findet ab 13. Juli 2012 das erste internationale Nutzertreffen mit Ausstellung statt. Am Freitag den 13. und am darauf folgenden Samstag treffen sich die Mitglieder in der a+gallery. Es werden Vorträge und anschließende Diskussionen zum Thema „Wie viel Platz braucht das Virtuelle?“ gehalten.

Am Sonntag, dem 15. Juli wird um 11 Uhr eine Ausstellung mit Arbeiten der Teilnehmer eröffnet. Schattenwald wird mit drei verschiedenen Arbeiten an der Ausstellung beteiligt sein, die sich über die virtuell-materielle Grenze hinwegsetzen und das Thema der I am we-Plattform aufgreifen. Between us and myself

This spring we stumbled upon a social media art project on Facebook that we liked. On our way to our favorite cheese monger we came across the physical manifestation of the project: At the a+gallery in Stuttgart we met Wolf Nkole Helzle who presented his media art project „I am we_interactive image“. In April he started a new internet platform that allows everyone to post pictures in a virtual diary, one for each day of the calender. These pictures are used as pieces of a mosaic that recreates the profile pictures of the platform’s users. Portraits are made up of the sum of all: I am we.

You can comment each others pictures. Artists from all over the world started to communicate. We joined the group and shared our own pictures: Martin’s drawings of Dora and Karin’s pictures of her shadow are part of the mosaics now. In order for this participative project to reach back from virtual to material space, the first user meeting will be held starting july 13, 2012. On friday the 13th and the following saturday the members of the platform meet at the a+gallery. There will be presentations and discussions about the topic „How much space does virtuality need?“

On sunday the 15th an exhibition of works by the visiting members will be opened at 11am. Schattenwald will participate with three works that cross the virtual/material border and takes up the idea of I am we_interactive image. We look forward to your visit!
